<isc:description>When Susie brought in these new clasps she couldn't wait to show them to me! I knew I was going to design with it, but in what application? It finally hit me that I wanted to do a peyote cuff, so Dena and I went through the color options and decided on these. the pattern didn't come to me until I started working it and I tore it all out once, but I wanted it to mimic a film strip! So I hope you all will too be inspired and work this even count peyote stitched cuff for yourself!

Karla Schafer, Aunties Beads Designer

Instructions:

Please watch the video on Even Count Peyote if you are not familiar with the stitch:

Start with the longest amount of Fireline you are comfortable working with, about 6' is a good start, and thread a needle on one end.

Add a stop bead to the end, leaving about a 10" tail.

Following the pattern, work the dark areas in the 6/0 Black and the white areas in the S/l Matte Crystal.

My first attempt at the pattern and the pattern pictured will work up to be about 7 3/4" in finished length, about 6" in length of the actual beaded length, if you desire it to be shorter, remove a row from each end, longer add a row.

After you are satisfied with the length of the cuff, subtracting the clasp measurement, tie off the tail ends with a couple of half hitch knots within a few rows of the work. I liked to reinforce the ending rows, since some stress will be on them with the clasp connection.

Open a 6mm jump ring and run it through the second bead on the first row, then one through the third and fourth.

Attach the clasp to the first 6mm jump ring with two 4mm jump rings each and so on for the remain two jump rings.

Repeat the jump ring application for the other end of the bracelet to complete the bracelet.

Instructions:

View the Crimp Ends Video for a quick how.
No Wrap Bracelet:

Cut a piece of leather in 10" in length.

Center the Slide onto the middle of the leather, tying an overhand knot on either side of the slide.

Subtract the measurement of the hook and eye clasp from the finished length and cut the leather accordingly.

Add the crimp ends according to the video or by inserting the leather end and mashing the middle channel with chain nose pliers.
Single Wrap:

Cut a piece of leather in 26" in length.

Center the Slide onto the middle of the leather, tying an overhand knot on either side of the slide.

For this one to wrap twice for a 7 1/2" bracelet, allow about 9" of leather from the knot on each side, that is accounting for the hook and eye as well. You may want to wrap around your wrist before cutting just to ensure that this is a correct fit.

Add the crimp ends according to the video or by inserting the leather end and mashing the middle channel with chain nose pliers.
Double Wrap:

Cut a piece of leather in 37" in length.

Center the Slide onto the middle of the leather, tying an overhand knot on either side of the slide.

For this one to wrap four times (double wrapped on both sides of the slide when worn) for a 7 1/2" bracelet, allow about 16"of leather from the knot on each side, that is accounting for the hook and eye as well. You may want to wrap around your wrist before cutting just to ensure that this is a correct fit.

Add the crimp ends according to the video or by inserting the leather end and mashing the middle channel with chain nose pliers.
Note: for a more generous fit, add about a 1/4" to 1/2" each side which worked better for my wrist size, it is best to fit it before adding the crimp ends!

Karla Schafer, Aunties Beads Designer

Instructions:

View the Drop Beading Video for a quick how to.

We will first need to construct our charm bracelet, so cut the chain to 6" for a 7 1/2" finished bracelet.

Open an eye pin slipping the loop end of toggle on it and close.

Drop a seed bead, round, seed bead and start a loop adding it to the end of the chain and wrap.

Repeat the above steps for the other end of the bracelet to add the bar.

Lay out your newly made bracelet on your work surface to layout your charm pattern.

I added the first charm to the first link of chain near the loop end of the toggle and then added each additional charm every 5 links and the square flower bead the third link from the charm.

Attach the charms first, using an eye pin and round wrapping a loop.

Then go back and add the square beads dropping a seed bead, square, seed bead on a head pin and wrapping a loop.

I filled in my spaces with a random mix of the acrylic rounds, dropping a seed bead, round, seed bead on the head pins.

For a fuller effect, I added a round/seed bead drop to both sides of my links with the exception of the charmed links!

<isc:description>The Greeks thought that gold was a dense combination of water and sunlight. Whatever the make up, Gold has long been sought and worn by many. The juxtaposition of the triangular earring findings make up the focal of the necklace, with the rich hues of Swarovski Crystals, in Sun, Fern Green and Purple Velvet. Gold Plated oval chain completes the opulent piece.

Karla Schafer, Aunties Beads Designer

Instructions:

View the Y-Necklace Video for a quick how to on rosary loops.

Cut two pieces of chain 7" in length and set aside.

To create the focal point of the necklace, we will join the two earring findings together with crystal links.

Open an eye pin slipping it into the first of the three loops and close.

Slip on a fern bicone, bali spacer, purple velvet bicone, bali spacer, sun bicone.

Create a rosary loop at the end of the link and add it to the second earring finding in the first of the three loops.

Create the second link as above, but slide on a sun bicone, bali spacer, fern bicone and connecting it with another rosary loop .

Create the last link with just the purple velvet bicone, thus creating the angle of the focal.

Add the focal to the two pieces of chain with a beaded link, sun bicone, bali spacer, purple velvet, bali spacer, fern bicone, again using the rosary link technique connecting to the single loops on each end of the focal.
<il>To complete the necklace, add the lobster clasp to one end of the chain.

Karla Schafer, Aunties Beads Designer

Instructions:

View the Peyote Stitch Instructional Video for a how to on peyote stitch.

Cut a 1yd piece of Fireline or longer, what ever you are comfortable working with, you will need to tie in a couple of times.

String on a stop bead. To string a stop bead, pick up a bead and pass needle and thread through the bead in the same direction so that the thread wraps around the bead.

Pick up 10 seed beads and let them slide down the thread to the stop bead.

Pick up one seed bead; skip the last bead strung and pass through the next bead, going back towards the stop bead.

Continue to pick up one bead, skip a bead, and pass through the next bead until you reach the end of the row.

Continue to pick up beads and pass through the beads that are jutting out from the previous row. You will be filling in the gaps with beads as you stitch.

To turn at the end of each row, simply pick up a bead and pass through the bead you just stitched into place. You may have to hold on to your working thread to keep your tension so as not to allow the work to loosen up.

Follow the pattern for the color changes, using an index card to help mark your rows. As I worked this pattern I found that if I counted 5 beads per column of one color, I was more aware of when I need to change my colors.

As mentioned you will need to add thread a couple of times, so be sure to secure your working thread by working it back through the stitches, half hitch knotting a couple of times. Add the thread in the same manner careful to end up where you stopped.

Work the pattern until you reach your desired length, remembering the clasp will add about an inch or more to the length.

To add the clasp, re-enforce the last two rows by tracing the thread back through the previous stitches out the second "UP" bead, string on 7 to 8 seed beads run the thread through the loop end of the toggle and secure by running the thread back through the top two rows and the string of beads of the toggle loop and half hitch knot a couple of times with in the work.

For the bar part of the toggle used in this project, I had to adjust for the hole of the finding, as the seed beads did not go flow through, this is also a good place to add a bit of length if needed to fit properly. I added a few more seed beads and used an even amount on either side of the finding, re-enforcing and knotting as above.

Karla Schafer, Aunties Beads Designer

Instructions:

View the Even Count Peyote Stitch Tube Beads Video for a quick how to.

Create a peyote strip 6 beads wide and about 20 or more rows, the strip size may have varied depending on the irregular thickness of the glass.

I connected each ring as I made the strips, so from beginning to end this is the order: 16mm tangerine, 23mm clear, 16mm pacific blue, 16mm tangerine, 23mm clear, 16mm pacific blue, 16mm tangerine, 23mm clear.

To properly connect the strips you must be able to zip the edges together, thus why you may want to watch the above mentioned video.

Once all the rings are connected together, you can add the jump rings to add the clasp.

Add a jump ring to the end 16mm tangerine ring and close adding another jump ring to this one with the trigger clasp.

The trigger clasp will connect into the 23mm clear ring at the other end to complete the journey.

My finished length is right at 7 1/2", if a longer size is desired, you can increase the length of the strips or add another jump ring. For a smaller bracelet, you can use one jump ring at the trigger clasp or omit rings within the design.
