This project uses an even count peyote stitch and pattern reading, if you are not familiar with these, please watch the following videos:
Even Count Peyote Stitch Video

2-Drop Peyote Video
  1. Work each panel according to the pattern.
  2. To join the panels together run your thread through the work securing with some half hitch knots and exit the second "up" bead on the edge of the panel: string 2 pink seed beads, jet round, 2 pink seed beads and pass through the second "up" bead of the middle panel and back through the beads added several times to re-enforce the work.
  3. Pass your thread back into the work, skipping the next "up" bead and exit out the next, repeating the above connection with a jet round.
  4. Continue the same procedure as the above two steps using white seed beads and a fuchsia round for the middle and jet for the last two.
  5. Secure the thread within the work with some half hitch knots and connect the other panel.
  6. Once you have all three of the panels connected we can add the button closure.
  7. Choose the panel end that the button will be placed on and work in your thread to the middle of the third row from the end, string a seed bead, the button and a seed bead working the thread back into the work and up through the beads and button several times to re-enforce the connection. End the thread with some half hitch knots.
  8. We are now ready to create the loop for the button. Secure your thread with in the panel with some half hitch knots. Exit the third "up" bead stinging approximately 22 seed beads in pink and pass through the third "up" bead, again running the thread back through the work multiple times to re-enforce the connection and end with half hitch knots when satisfied!

Questions and Answers

Q: I am having a hard time with this pattern. The video that shows how to make a bracelet doesn't work with the zebra pattern, at least for me. I am frustrated. How do I make this work?
Asked by: Carie - 10/31/2014
A: Did you download the pattern? If you know how to do even count peyote, that is half the battle. I suggested the 2-drop peyote video so that you could see how to follow a pattern in peyote. That is really the hard part. But I also would not fret about missing a color as it is a zebra stripe and if you miss a color it will not show as in other patterns. I would also suggest laying a straight edge over the pattern line by line to assist in following it. Karla
