About This Project

Designing for the mother of the bride is probably as hard as shopping for the dress! It has to be something that doesn't take away from the bride yet compliments the mother! The mother's dress is a beautiful shade of midnight blue lace with a nude underlay. So I chose to take a minimal approach to the colors, choosing some Swarovski Pearls in Night Blue and Bicones in Dark Indigo. I added the Sand Opal to break it up! The right angle weave technique truly creates this understated elegance that was needed for her dress. You can make them as long or short as desired but the effect will always stay true.

Karla Schafer, Aunties Beads Designer

This project requires knowledge of double right angle weave. For more information on this technique, please watch the Right Angle Weave Earrings Video.

  1. Follow the video for the general technique, however I will not be making them as long as in the video and will eliminate the 5mm bicones.
  2. For the base of the earring, I am using the 8mm round pearls, the next row, 6mm bicones and then for the next two rows 4mm bicones.
  3. The color combinations can be made with more than two colors as well, depending on what you would like the end product to look like!
  4. After knotting off your threads, simply add your ear wires to the seed bead loop you created.
