The Leaves Are Changing Necklace
This layered necklace will put you in the mood for autumn. The bronze and orange colors compliment each other perfectly! The best part is how affordably this piece can be put together.
Kelly McCoy, Auntie's Beads Designer
Instructions:
Step 1. Use your nipper tool to cut a 16” and a 20” piece of beading wire.
Step 2. String about 7” worth of seed beads onto your smaller piece of wire.
Step 3. String on a silver plate bali style bead, then an orange jade teardrop, then another stilver plate bali style bead.
Step 4. String 9 seed beads onto your wire.
Step 5. Repeat step 3, string another 9 seed beads onto your wire and repeat step 3 a third time.
Step 6. String another 7” or so of your wire (just make sure it’s equal to the amount you beaded in step 2).
Step 7. Set aside your smaller piece of wire (hint: it helped me to clamp this piece shut with a “Bead Stopper”).
Step 8. Repeat the process with your larger piece of wire. This time, string about 8.5” of your beading wire before stringing your first bali style bead-orange jade tear drop-bali style bead combination. Also, string 11 seed beads between combinations instead of 9.
Step 9. String both pieces of beading wire through a crimp bead together, put them through a split (or jump) ring and string them back through your crimp bead (they will fit in a 2X2 crimp bead).
Step 10. Pull tightly and crimp. Use your nipper tool to trim excess wire.
Step 11. On another split (or jump) ring, attach your rhodium lobster clasp. Then repeat steps 9 and 10 on the other side.
Step 12. Squeezing crimp covers over your exposed crimp beads is important in this piece because we’re using two pieces of beading wire instead of one which could result in an unfinished look if not covered.
Step 13. Go show off! :)
