Rating Silamide thread

I've been wanting to try this thread for some time. I understand it will not fray, so this is good. This color will go well with the pearl necklace I will be restringing. Lots of 'mileage' on this so I won't run out.

Questions and Answers
Q: I am restringing a crystal ? Necklace for a friend. Size #3 is to small. The knots just go right thru the bead. It was her mothers necklace so I want to do it justice. I don't know what size A orD means. Is it thicker than 3 ? I am so confused. Thank you for any help you can give.

A: I my self am not clear on the sizing of threads. But the Silamide info I have found said that it is good for smaller hole beads, however I think that is for stringing. What I used for knotting pearls was a silk knotting thread #3 that you said is too small. I looked up on Griffin Silk thread and the next size up is #4 then #5 etc. #3 is .5mm; #4 is .6mm; #5 is .65mm. You may want to try and find those larger sizes. Karla
