Artist Bio:
Rachel grew up on a ranch in Lake County, California, an experience that helps to explain her appreciation for natural design elements, and earthy beauty. Inspiration comes from her memories of riding her horse to the river and seeing colorful dragonflies fluttering above the water, wildflowers dancing in the breeze, and finding a shiny, creek-polished stone or naturally smoothed piece of driftwood.
Rachel sees her work as an expression of the spirit. She tries to find a unique, natural element as a starting point to feature and guide her in completing the piece. "I like using natural elements. Like people, each is unique with a brilliance all their own."
What we noticed about her work is an unconventional touch on an otherwise typical element, like featuring the clasp as a decorative part of the front of a necklace, balanced against a contrasting but similarly weighted piece on the other side. Or a non-standard implementation of prayer beads as a bracelet, or with unexpected natural pieces.
