What You're Saying:

"I love ordering through auntiesbeads.com! I live in a town where the closest thing to a bead store (hobby lobby) is 30 minutes away and the quality and service aren't up to par. With your website I can get most everything I need in a very short period of time and with anything that isn't available I can sign up for emails to let me know when they become available. Thank you for being my go-to bead supplier!"
- Michelle via mobile

Good products at a good price...beads always "as advertised" and arrive on time.
- Richard from Tyler, Texas

I had never ordered from Auntie's Beads until Last Dec. 2011. I placed an order, and within a couple of days, it was in my mailbox. WOW!! that is Customer Service. I had ordered from other companies, and my wait time was 5-7 days. I will be placing all my orders from Auntie's Beads.
- Teri from Indianapolis

I am a fairly new beader. I would like to commend you all on your superior service. You have all the items that I need at a great price and they are always correct when they arrive. My products arrive pretty quickly. Just awesome!

Jewelry Making Q&A – Jump Rings, African Helix?…
Posted by Auntie's Beads on 4/30/2010

Can you tell me what to use to cut jump rings, the wire cutter I bought is not working well?

If you are making single jump rings, a flush cutter should work nicely. If you are making a series
of jump rings, there is a special cutter for that

Sometimes when I make a necklace and attach a charm to the chain with a jumpring, it always flips over when I wear it… why does this keep happening?

Be sure you are attaching the jump ring to the bottom half of a ring of the chain that lies flat against your skin so that the ring of chain and the small ring on the charm are parallel.

(African Helix video question)
If wanted to use more beads at the beggining i.e 24 instead of the 16 you used. How many beads would I need to pick up? Would it still be 3 main 2 accent or would it be more?

Since African Helix is done in sets of 4,  and you are doing 6 sets of 4 beads for your 24 beads, then it would still be 3 main and 2 accent, 6 times.

(Wire Wrapped Wine Glass video question)
Hello….can you wash your wine glasses with the wire wrapped beads on them????

Yes, water will only hurt a metal that will rust and most beads are washable. Do a test with one to make sure your beads are not going to fade from detergent.

I was wondering what is the best thing to use when making a photo charm bracelet, diamond glaze, art gel or adhesive. I don’t want my photo of my kids to run & get all messed up.

I recommend not using an original picture but a copy done on photo paper designed especially not to bleed. Use adhesive to adhere the picture to the frame and whether to use Diamond Glaze or Art Gel is
really a personal preference. Neither product becomes completely hardened as a resin would so be careful when putting your finished product away that there is not anything laying on top of it. Do a
small test to see which product you prefer

Jewelry Making Q&A – “mm” Sizing, Gunmetal?…
Posted by Auntie's Beads on 12/10/2009

Here a few questions we’ve had recently and wanted to share.   Feel free to submit questions in the comments below.

What our your gunmetal beads?  (what is the base metal under the plate):

Our gunmetal beads are actually electro-plated brass.  They are nickel free and meet the California level 2 lead classification which means they may contain small traces of lead but are suitable for selling (both as beads and in finished jewelry pieces).

How can I create an illusion necklace using beading chain and finish the piece using beading chain:

To crimp the ends of this chain, you want to use Sterling Silver Crimp End Cap, 0.7 mm.  If you are creating an illusion style necklace and want crimp beads and crimp covers to hold the beads in place, I would use the following: Crimp Beads, 2 x 2mm and Sterling Silver Open Bead Crimp Cover, 3.2 mm.

I don’t have a good idea of “mm”  Can you relate that in inches?

Understanding mm sizing is a very important when learning to bead.  The best thing to understand is that 24mm = 1 inch.  So 12mm = 1/2 an inch, etc.

How many 18mm beads should I buy to make a 7.5” bracelet?

About 9 beads if you don’t use any spacers and are leaving about an inch for the toggle, crimp beads, and other items needed for closure.  This goes back to the above question involving mm sizing.  If 18mm = 3/4 of an inch, then you simply divide 7 inches by 3/4 inch and viola!
