Working with Leather Cording and Leather Findings
Working with leather can be fun and easy or can be more of a challenge, depending on how it is used. Working with 1mm or 2mm round leather or suede cording, for example, you can create simple necklaces or bracelets that display your favorite pendants or charms.
Licorice leather is a wider, thicker leather that has specific components designed to go with it. Pick your favorite spacers and slide them on the leather. Use Zap-a-Gap to add your favorite licorice leather clasp and you have a complete piece.
For more intermediate or advanced projects, you can use 1mm round leather cording with Miyuki 6/0 seed beads to create braided jewelry and Kumihimo pieces. Try braiding leather, using it in multi-stranded or wrapped bracelet and necklace designs or even incorporating it into chain and beaded jewelry. You can also use Artistic Wire to wire wrap to wrap licorice leather since it is relatively flat and smooth.
