Kumihimo Episode 5: Basic Flat Kumihimo
Item Id: VIDEO-0135 review 1 Review(s) Write a Review Write a Review

I am very excited about Kumihimo, so I thought it was time to try the flat kumihimo using the Kumihimo Square Plate! After reading the instructions, I was a bit confused as it is very different from the round plate. I worked it out and found this to be really easy after all! I produces such a different look that I can't wait to explore other patterns! I like to start with the basics first to get the feel of how the plate works, but I assure you this will too become a favorite!

Tips and Tricks
  • The square plate produces a flat braid.
  • Terminators or Ribbon Crimp Ends are used to finish flat braids.

A: Cathy,
I am sorry about that, I left it out of the listing. I have since added it back in: Silver Plated Ribbon Crimp End, 5x13mm; http://www.auntiesbeads.com/Silver-Plated-Ribbon-Crimp-End-5x13mm_p_28782.html
Thank you for the kind words and I am looking forward to any feed back you may have!

Q: Karla, I loved the square kumi tutorial. I haven't tried that one yet. But I was captivated by your ribbon and tab top bracelet on your left arm. How did you close it?

A: I created a Hook and Eye out of wire that I learned from one of our other designers, Judy Mertz. She demonstrates how you can make them in her How to Make Clasps Video: http://www.auntiesbeads.com/Working-with-Wire-Episode-2-How-to-Make-Clasps_p_27291.html
