Kumihimo Episode 3: Twisted Spiral Pattern

Part Number:VIDEO-0133

I found another pattern out of Dena's books, this one adds a thicker strand to add a textural element to the design. I modified the pattern a bit to make it work with the materials I have but really love the way it came out. I used rattail and waxed cord and doubled one of the rattail colors to create that textural element!

Tips and Tricks
  • We will be knotting in the design because I am using an odd number of threads.
  • I will demonstrate the binding technique to end the piece since we knotted to start with.

Nice texture to the twist!
Thank you, Karla, for another fun video showing how to add texture to your kumihimo twist pattern. Very pretty :) I especially like the use of the binding technique. I've used this 'silk wrapping technique' with leather ends and other cord material. It's nice to have the additional security.
