Flower Ring
I originally made a ring like this in turquoise and copper, but I thought it would be fun to play with the fuchsia flower and different colors of wire. The possibilities are endless!
Shanna Steele, Auntie’s Beads Designer
Instructions:
1. Take a piece of wire measuring about 3 feet. Center the wire on the mandrel at a size mark one size bigger than the desired size. If you would like your ring to be a size 8, center your ring at the size 9 mark.
2. Wrap the wire around the mandrel 3 full times on each side so the band you create consists of 6 pieces of wire. Bring your wires up so they are on top of the mandrel.
3. Take one of your wires up through the hole in the center of the flower bead. Remove your work from the ring mandrel.
4. Take your other wire (the one that is not going through the flower bead) and run it underneath the flower so it is on the other side. Wrap it around the band about 4 times. Cut your excess wire. Tuck the end of the wire with a Crimper tool or a pair of pliers.
5. Take the wire that is coming out of the flower and pinch it down across the top of the flower bead. Put your thumb on top of the flower bead. Use your other hand to slowly turn the wire. Remember to keep pressure on the flower so your wire will stay in place while you create your swirl.
6. Take the wire down between 2 petals. The wire should be on the side of the band that is not already wrapped. Wrap the wire around the band about 4 times. Cut the excess wire. Tuck the end using chain nose pliers or a crimper tool.
