Description
Of all the stitches out there, there is not one I love more than the no needle right angle weave. Making rings using this technique with seed beads and Swarovski crystals is a special love of mine because the color combinations are endless! I hope you enjoy my newest creation as much as I do!
Shanna Steele, Aunties Beads Designer
Instructions:
This project requires knowledge of working with Supplemax to create a no needle right angle weave ring. If you have never tried this before, I would recommend watching the following instructional videos so you understand the technique:
Beading with Right Angle Weave
Younghee's Ring
Creating the top of the ring:
Cut about 3' of Supplemax. Run it through your hands to straighten it out.
String 4 seed beads on the Supplemax. Move the last seed bead on the left toward the edge of the left thread. Cross over with your right thread through the last seed bead added on the left. (When you cross over, you take your right thread from right to left through the bead.) You should have a circle of seed beads. Make sure it is centered. You will work around this circle in a counterclockwise fashion.
Pick up the following with your left thread: 6mm bicone, seed bead, 4mm bicone, seed bead, 6mm bicone. Cross over with your right thread through the last 6mm bicone added on the left. Run your right thread through the seed bead in the circle that is directly to the right of the thread. (Your right thread will be the one closest to the seed bead circle.)
With your left thread, pick up the following: seed bead, 4mm bicone, seed bead, 6mm bicone. Cross over with your right thread through the last 6mm bicone added. Run your right thread through the seed bead in the circle that is directly to the right of the thread.
Repeat step 4 one more time.
Take your right thread up through the 6mm bicone nearest the seed bead you just passed your thread through.
With your left thread, pick up a seed bead and 4mm bicone on the left. Pick up a seed bead on the right. Cross over with your right thread through the 4mm bicone just added.
Run each thread through the seed bead on either side of the 4mm bicone just added.
With your right thread, pick up a 4mm round. Run it through the seed bead, 4mm bicone and seed bead to the right of the thread.
Repeat step 8 two more times.
Each of your threads should be running out of a seed bead. Pick up a 4mm round on the left. Cross over with the right through the 4mm round just added.
Run each thread through the seed bead on either side of the 4mm round just added.
Creating the band:
Lay the ring down so the domed crystal portion is facing away from you and your threads are at the top of the piece. Pick up 4 seed beads on the left and 2 seed beads on the right. Cross over with your right thread through the last 2 seed beads added on the left.
Continue to add 4 seed beads on the left and 2 seed beads on the right, crossing over with the right thread through the last 2 added on the left until your band is almost the desired length. (Hint: 7 squares is about a size 7. You count the number of squares by counting the open spaces between the seed beads.
Pick up 2 seed beads on the left and 2 seed beads on the right. Run your left thread from left to right through the seed bead, 4mm round and seed bead directly opposite from where the band started. Run your right thread from right to left through the same beads.
Hold the ring so the crystals are between your forefinger and thumb with the domed portion touching your thumb and your threads running left and right in front of you. Run your right thread through the 2 seed beads above the thread then through the 2 seed beads to the left of that. Run your left thread through the 2 seed beads above the thread. Your threads should meet.
Tie a square knot. Apply a dab of Hypo Cement to the knot. Run the threads through nearby seed beads. Cut the excess thread.
Hint: If you don't feel that this band is going to be secure enough, you can continue running your threads through the band as you did in step 4 to strengthen the band, but it will tighten up the size a bit.

Beautiful, but.........
Is there an error in the instructions? The tools & materials say you need four 6mm & 4mm bicones, but in the written instructions it seems to say you need 5 of each. After following it, I realized it must be wrong because it looked cockeyed. Please clarify the instructions as I really want to make those rings. I think they are lovely! Thank you. I love your website!
Designer's Note:
There was an error in the instructions. Step 5 should have read "Repeat step 4 one more time", instead of "Repeat step 3 one more time". This has been corrected. We are glad you love the project and our website. Thank you!
