Use a red or black marker to colour the end of the thread, then hold the coloured end between your thumb & finger & put the needle on the thread using your dominant hand. Works great!
It is almost impossible to put the thread into the needle like you would do with a big eye needle.

Long Lived - No!
I do not recommend these needles to anyone that does a fair amount of needle bead work. I have found them to bend and break easily. I went through 3 of them in one pendant project. I have since upgraded to the Tulip needle brand and am extremely satisfied.
