Emerald Coast Sea Glass Necklace

Part Number:PROJ-0380
Emerald Coast Sea Glass Necklace

Perhaps my up coming vacation to Destin, Florida inspired this necklace. I wanted to design something with the sea glass, but didn't want to do the something predictable. So I chose the metallic silver beading wire, knowing that I was going to leave it exposed. I love the free form pendants and decided that a play on color was in order with just a splash of something bright, so I decided on the Transparent Orange AB 6/0 seed bead. I threw in a few silver TierraCast seed beads to bring it all together. I also found that sometimes the strands kinda hang asymmetrically; it wasn't by design which just makes this all the more fun to me! I hope that you too have a vacation that can inspire your designs.

  1. For this design you may want to work off the spool of wire, that way you have more control in the length.
  2. Working the longest strand first, string onto the wire, a silver seed bead, 6/0, *peacock blue glass, 6/0, shamrock glass, 6/0, coke bottle glass, 6/0, silver seed bead, 6/0**.
  3. Repeat the pattern (* to** ) three more times, ending with 6/0, silver seed bead, for a total of (12) free form sea glass.
  4. Keep the clasp together when crimping the wires into it.
  5. String on a crimp bead, silver seed bead, 6/0, silver seed bead and run the wire through the first hole of the clasp and back through all of the beads into the crimp. Crimping with the Magical Crimp Forming Tool.
  6. Trim the excess beading wire as close to the crimp bead as possible.
  7. This strand measure crimped about 21" so cut the wire bit longer, an inch or so and then crimp as instructed above adding the crimp and beads.
  8. For the second strand string the following pattern of beads: *6/0, silver seed bead, 6/0, coke bottle glass, 6/0, silver seed bead, 6/0, shamrock glass, 6/0, silver seed bead, 6/0, peacock blue glass**.
  9. Repeat the pattern (* to** ) two more times, ending 6/0, silver seed bead, 6/0, for a total of (9) sea glass.
  10. This strand measures crimped about 20", so cut an extra inch as you did for the first strand.
  11. Crimp into the second or middle loop of the clasp just as you have, with the same pattern of beads as the first.
  12. For the last strand, string on the bead pattern: *silver seed bead, 6/0, silver seed bead, shamrock glass, silver seed bead, peacock blue glass, silver seed bead, coke bottle glass**
  13. Repeat the pattern (* to** ) two more times, ending, silver seed bead, 6/0, silver seed bead for a total of (9) sea glass.
  14. This strand measures crimped about 19 3/4", so cut an extra inch as you did for the first strand.
  15. Crimp into the last loop of the clasp just as you have, with the same pattern of beads as the first.
  16. TIP: Vary the length of the strands more than my example for a different look!

Love this necklace and the instructions are clear. I've admired this for some time and now it's time to sit down and make it for myself! Love the colors used in this design. But really, all the sea glass beads are great. Can't wait!
