Down By The Sea Necklace

This seed bead mix just blends so wonderfully with copper. I wanted to use it to create a necklace that was dainty and delicate, while still having a flash of brilliance. The colors make me wish I was on a beach somewhere. Just slipping this necklace over my head might give me that ocean vacation feeling...

Instructions:

1. On a piece of beading wire measuring about 3 feet, put a bead stopper at one end. Then string a crimp bead, a 4mm round, and 2 Bali spacers.

2. String 4 inches of your seed bead mix.

3. String the following pattern: 2 Bali spacers, a 4mm round, a lantern bead, a 4mm round, and 2 Bali spacers. Then string 1 inch of your seed bead mix.

4. Repeat step 3 one more time. Your piece should be about 8 inches long at this point.

5. String the following pattern: 2 Bali spacers, 5mm round, leaf bead cap, helix bead, leaf bead cap, 5mm round, grape bead cap, 8mm rondelle, grape bead cap, 5mm round, leaf bead cap, helix bead, leaf bead cap, 5mm round, 2 Bali spacers. Follow this with 1 inch of your seed bead mix.

6. Repeat step 3 one time.

7. Repeat step 5 one more time.

8. Repeat step 3 one more time.

9. Repeat step 5 one more time. At this point, you should have used 4 of your lantern beads and all of your bead caps as well as all of your Golden Shadow and Light Colorado Topaz crystals.

10. Repeat step 3 two more times. After this, all of your lantern beads should be used in the necklace. Out of all your materials--besides the seed beads--you should only have one 4mm round left and 2 Bali spacers.

11. String 3 more inches of your seed bead mix. Hold your piece up to make sure the necklace is symmetrical. The center of the necklace should have a segment that contains your bead caps and your larger crystals. You should have a lantern bead between the next segment of bead caps and larger crystals. After the last segment of bead caps and larger crystals on each side, you should have 2 lantern beads.

12. Next add 2 Bali spacers and a 4mm round. Run your beading wire through the crimp bead you added in step 1. Your threads should come out of the same crimp bead but in opposite directions.

13. Remove the bead stopper. Run each thread through a couple of nearby beads. Pull snugly on the threads so you don't have exposed wire. Use your Crimper tool to secure the crimp bead. Use your Nipper tool to cut excess wire.

14. Use your Crimper tool to put the crimp cover on the crimp bead. Using the middle groove of the tool, gently push the crimp cover until it is closed.

Copper Bead Cap with Grapes, 9mm (6 pieces)
Swarovski Crystal, 8mm Faceted Round Rondelle, Light Colorado Topaz (3 pieces)
Antique Copper Plate Leaf Bead Cap (12 pieces)
Swarovski Crystal Helix Bead, 8 mm, Golden Shadow (6 pieces)
Copper Small Lantern Bead, 8mm (6 pieces)
Antique Copper Plate Beaded Heishi Flat Bali, 3 mm, Bag of 25 (40 pieces)
Swarovski Crystal, 5mm Round, Aquamarine (12 pieces)
Swarovski Crystal, 4mm Round, Bag of 10, Aquamarine (14 pieces)
Antique Copper Plate Crimp Bead, 2 x 2 mm, Bag of 50 (1 piece)
Copper Open Bead Crimp Cover, 3.2mm, Bag of 10 (1 piece)
