About This Project

We have had some questions regarding how to use connectors. Since we have so many new ones and blingy ones, Shanna and I thought they would make a great focal for an elastic bracelet. I feel like these are fun and easy bracelets to make up so you will want to make a few to stack!

  1. I made about 4 different designs and I will post all the materials I used. They are constructed in the same manner with a bit of length changes due to the length of the connector and the pattern of beads. I am also using the crimp beads specially designed to work with Elasticity.
  2. I am using Czech glass pearl strands, but a variety of beads can be used. I first started stringing my beads on to the elasticity directly on the spool. I used a simple pattern of a 6mm pearl, 8mm pearl in black and silver grey respectfully. (Tip) if you have a problem getting through the pearl, use a head pin to ream or clear the hole.
  3. You want elastic bracelets to fit a bit snug, so in the case of the heart connector (42mm) I strung about 6 1/2" of pearls ending with a 6mm.
  4. Add a crimp bead to the end of the elasticity and then run the end through the loop of the connector, stretching the elasticity, run it back through the crimp bead.
  5. Using chain nose pliers, flat crimp the crimp bead and trim the excess close to the crimp with nipper tool.
  6. Cut the beaded portion from the spool with a few inches to spare or enough to stretch so you can add the crimp bead.
  7. Add the crimp bead, run it through the loop of the connector, stretching the elasticity to get it to go back through the crimp, crimping as above and trim to complete the piece.
  8. The following color combinations were used in my samples:
  9. Gunmetal Heart Connector, 6mm Jet Czech Glass Pearls, 8mm Silver Gray Czech Glass Pearls, Satin Silver Elasticity, Silver Plated Crimp Tubes.
  10. Pink Kitty Connector, 6mm and 8mm White Czech Glass Pearls, Satin Silver Elasticity, Silver Plated Crimp Tubes.
  11. Butterfly Connector, 6mm and 8mm Yellow Bronze Czech Glass Pearls, Satin Gold Elasticity, Gold Crimp Tubes.
  12. Crown Connector, 6mm and 8mm Teal Green Czech Glass Pearls, Satin Gold Elasticity, Gold Crimp Tubes.

Questions and Answers

Q: New to elasticity. Will this bracelet still stretch over a hand after stretching the elasticity through the crimp end? Will the bracelet be weakened at all? What about using french bullion/thread protectors/wire guardians to protect the loop?
Asked by: Mara - 4/27/2015
A: As stated in the instructions of the project I am using crimp beads especially designed for the Elasticity. I do not recommend using other crimp beads with this product, those may cause the elasticity to break. Unlike the Elastoma product which can be used with regular crimp beads, as it is designed for them. If you would like to use french bullion you can try it, I personally would be concerned it may cause friction, but do not know that for a fact. You could try and wear test it to see if it will hold. You will have plenty of stretch left in the elasticity after you crimp it, as you do not want to crimp it too tight.
