About This Project

I believe I created my favorite Swarovski Multi Mix yet! I immediately had a design idea to showcase this mix and make a beautiful piece for the bride. I drop beaded the mix, drop them on a head pins and created a cluster bouquet. I braided some silk strings to drop the bouquet from for a bit of softness. All together it is a stunning piece and can be duplicated in other Multi Mixes for other occasions or the bridesmaids!

Karla Schafer, Aunties Beads Designer

This project requires knowledge of drop beading and how to make a cluster of drop beads. For more information on these techniques, please watch the Drop Beading video and Cluster Drop Earrings Video.

  1. Drop bead the following beads and set aside: (5) 4mm pearls; (5) 4mm rounds; (5) 6mm pearls; (5) 6mm rounds (5) 8mm pearls (5) 8mm rounds.
  2. On a head pin, drop a 4mm round. Next alternating each style, slide the 4mm pearl/round drops; then 6mm pearl/round drops; then 8mm pearl/round drops.
  3. To finish the cluster drop an 8mm round crystal pushing it down and adjusting the drops around the cluster as desired and wrap a tight loop to tighten the cluster.(Tip: Use the mid point of the round nose pliers to make a loop large enough to accommodate the pinch bail.)
  4. Add the pinch bail; to the loop of the cluster to form the pendant.
  5. Cut each piece of silk string in half tie all (4) pieces together on one end in a loose overhand knot.
  6. Braid the strands into a loose plait.
  7. Trim free ends evenly, placing the ends in a terminator, after you add a bit of glue, closing the terminator with chain nose pliers.
  8. Carefully remove the knot from the other end, trim if necessary to make the ends even, slip on the pendant and apply the last terminator as above.
  9. Add an inch of chain to one terminator and the trigger clasp to the other with a jump ring.
  10. On a head pin, drop a 4mm pearl, 6mm round and 8mm pearl, start a loop, slip it into the end of the chain and wrap for the finishing touch!
